General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law comes into force on the 25th of May, 2018. This General Data Protection Regulation law affects any business and organisation that deals with personal information and data. This means that you will need to secure that you are aware how and why this law affects you and what exactly it is that you need to be doing to comply with the law.

In our centre in Congl Meinciau on the 30th of April, we held a course ran by Cwmni CELyn.  This course ensured that those who attended were aware of what it is that they need to do to ensure complying with the General Data Protection Regulation law and that they gather and share information in a legal and safe way for everyone involved. Due to the high demand and the success of the first training session, we proceeded to organise another training session with Cwmni CELyn here on 05.06.2018 (which is also full) and another session for Monday the 18th of June.  If you would like to attend the training session, please get in contact with us.

Rise in National Living and Minimum Wage

The rates of the National minimum and the Living wage has now risen since April 2018. All businesses and employers now need to ensure that they are following the new guidelines.

Co-Working with Ysgol Botwnnog:

Darren and Cari had the opportunity to be judges during a Dragon’s Den event at Ysgol Botwnnog. The students were all in their groups and had to come up with a business idea which they then had had to do a presentation of. This presentation was done in front of the judges – their teacher, Mr. Bee, and the enterprise centre staff members Darren and Cari. With tastings of fudge and cupcakes as well as fun and innovative presentations both Darren and Cari left feeling inspired by the students’ ideas and skills.

The centre is very excited about working with the school yet again in the upcoming months where students will be coming down to the centre to have a fun business day where they will be given presentations by role models, will be meeting businesses already here at the centre, and will have the chance to create and market their own business ideas as a part of a competition.

Defibilator;

We are very proud to say that we now have a defibrillator outside the centre. Funds were raised by the Calonnau Cymunedol Botwnnog group and a big thank you goes to Noel and Gwyneth for their hard work in raising the money. We held a very successful evening where over 50 people from the village of all ages turned up to see how the defibrillator is used. Thanks to Sue for leading the event and showing us how it is done and thank you to Cegin Grug for providing the refreshments.
